DOE SC Program in Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR), in collaboration with the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE), Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NEAMS) program, hereby announces its interest in receiving five-year, multi-institutional applications for the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) Partnerships program https://www.scidac.gov/.

This FOA invites new research applications for the SciDAC-5 Partnerships that enable or accelerate scientific discovery employing deep, necessary, and productive collaborations between nuclear scientists/engineers and applied mathematicians and computer scientists, that fully exploit the capabilities of DOE High-Performance Computing (HPC) in order to accelerate and enhance NE objectives.

2022 Optimization and Standardization of Methods to Suppress Ixodes scapularis and Disrupt Enzootic Pathogen Transmission in Settings Posing an Elevated Risk to Humans

This NOFO intends to support research to: 1) optimize and standardize implementation of existing strategies to reduce the abundance of host-seeking Ixodes scapularis nymphs infected with human pathogens, especially Lyme disease spirochetes (DIN); 2) evaluate efficacy and reproducibility of operational use (e.g., in the hands of pest control professionals or the public, as appropriate) of these protocols in high-risk settings (e.g., wooded residential properties, high-use wooded recreational areas) across the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States where baseline DIN is elevated; and 3) develop standard operating procedures that may be used by homeowners or vector control professionals to implement these interventions within communities at risk for exposure to Lyme disease spirochetes and other I. scapularis-borne pathogens.

2022 Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention-Mobile Health Training Program (NEPQR-MHTP)

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is accepting applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2022 Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention-Mobile Health Training Program (NEPQR-MHTP). The purpose of this program is to strengthen the nursing workforce through education and training to provide culturally aligned quality care in rural and underserved areas and training of diverse nursing students to address and manage Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) factors and improve health equity and health literacy of vulnerable populations in rural and underserved communities through nurse-led mobile health training sites. The NEPQR-MHTP will create and expand experiential learning opportunities for nursing students, including: the provision of high-quality culturally sensitive care, identify and understand SDOH in local communities, engagement in critical thinking, and clinical practice highlighting a collaborative team approach to care.

The Outstanding New Environmental Scientist (ONES) Award is intended to identify the most talented Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) who intend to make a long-term commitment to research in the Environmental Health Sciences and assist them in launching an innovative research program focused on understanding the effects of environmental exposure on people’s health.

The Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE) program is designed to encourage the development and implementation of bold, new, and potentially transformative approaches to STEM graduate education training. The program seeks proposals that explore ways for graduate students in research-based master's and doctoral degree programs to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to pursue a range of STEM careers.

UArizona may submit up to a combined total of three applications (one in Data Science, one in Cancer Control Science, and one in Other Sciences) to any companion RFA or any combination of companion RFAs.

The purpose of the NCI Pathway to Independence Award for Outstanding Early Stage Postdoctoral Researchers (K99/R00) program is to increase and maintain a strong cohort of new and talented, NCI-supported, independent investigators. This program is designed for postdoctoral fellows with research and/or clinical doctoral degrees who do not require an extended period of mentored research training beyond their doctoral degrees. The objective of this award is to facilitate a timely transition of these fellows from their mentored, postdoctoral research positions to independent tenure-track (or equivalent) faculty positions. The program will provide independent NCI research support during this transition to help awardees to launch competitive, independent research careers. Researchers in the scientific areas of data science and cancer control science are especially encouraged to apply.

The purpose of this program is to fund organizations to provide a pre-apprenticeship program model that encompasses education, occupational skills training, leadership development, and high-quality post-program placement opportunities to opportunity youth. YouthBuild is a community-based alternative education program for youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who left high school prior to graduation that also have other risk factors, including being an adjudicated youth, youth aging out of foster care, youth with disabilities, migrant farmworker youth, youth experiencing housing instability, and other disadvantaged youth populations.
