This NHGRI R25 program supports the development of curricula for Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs in genomics, genomic medicine and/or genomic informatics for medical students. The curricula should be freely available, at no cost to the broader community, to enhance training of medical students to enter the genomics workforce. The programs must be self-sustaining at the end of the award period.

NSF’s Office of Polar Programs (OPP) and the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR) seek proposals for a Facilitator to manage a Polar Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (Polar STEAM) initiative. The successful proposal for the Facilitator of Polar STEAM will be administered as a Cooperative Agreement (CA) over a five-year period of performance, with the option for a renewal for up to five years pending review.

Polar STEAM is a new initiative, which encompasses and enriches two longstanding efforts:

  • an Antarctic Artists and Writers (AAW) program to support writing and artistic projects specifically designed to increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the Antarctic and the human endeavors on the southernmost continent; and
  • support for educators, both formal and informal, to travel to the Antarctic and Arctic to work collaboratively with researchers (hereafter, the Polar Educators program).

NIOSH / CDC invites grant applications for Training Project Grants (TPGs) that are focused on occupational safety and health training. NIOSH is mandated to provide an adequate supply of qualified personnel to carry out the purposes of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.  NIOSH supported Education and Research Centers (ERCs) and TPGs are how NIOSH meets this mandate. The majority of TPGs are in academic institutions and provide high quality undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate training in a variety of occupational safety and health (OSH) and allied disciplines.

2022 Science and Technology Centers: Integrative Partnerships

The Science and Technology Centers (STC): Integrative Partnerships program supports exceptionally innovative, complex research and education projects that require large-scale, long-term awards. STCs focus on creating new scientific paradigms, establishing entirely new scientific disciplines and developing transformative technologies which have the potential for broad scientific or societal impact. The UArizona pre-proposal mirrors the NSF preliminary proposal contents. Include the following sections in the two-page concept paper: Center Rationale, Center Plan, Integration Strategies.

This FOA is designed to support highly integrated research teams of three to six PDs/PIs to address ambitious and challenging research questions that are important for the mission of NIGMS and are beyond the scope of one or two investigators. Collaborative program teams are expected to accomplish goals that require considerable synergy and managed team interactions. Project goals should not be achievable with a collection of individual efforts or projects. Teams are encouraged to consider far-reaching objectives that will produce major advances in their fields.

Applications that are mainly focused on the creation, expansion, and/or maintenance of community resources, creation of new technologies, or infrastructure development are not appropriate for this FOA.

2022 National Digital Newspaper Program

NDNP is a partnership between NEH and the Library of Congress (LC) to create a national digital resource of historically significant newspapers published between 1690 and 1963, from all 56 states and U.S. jurisdictions. This searchable database will be permanently maintained by LC and will be freely accessible online (see Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers). Successful applicants will select newspapers—published in their state or jurisdiction between 1690 and 1963—and over a period of two years, convert approximately 100,000 pages into digital files (preferably from microfilm), according to the technical guidelines outlined by LC.
