Spring 2025 Workshop Series
JANUARY
A Step-by-Step Guide to Successful IRB Submissions
- When: Friday, January 31, 1:00 – 2:30 pm

- Description: This workshop provides a step-by-step guide to submitting projects for IRB review, including how to submit a new project in eIRB. Topics include training requirements, preparing IRB applications, obtaining required approvals, and helpful hints for successful submissions. Links to forms and other useful resources will be provided.
FEBRUARY
Reporting to the IRB – What You Need to Know

- Description: This training session covers essential knowledge and best practices for complying with IRB reporting requirements. Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of timely and accurate reporting, which ensures protection of human subjects throughout the research process.

Tribal Consultation and Research with Native Communities
- When: Thursday, March 27, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

- Description: The HSPP, in collaboration with the Responsible Conduct of Research Program (RCR), have teamed together to present a workshop covering policies, resources, and best practices for researchers interested in conducting research with Native Nations/Indigenous communities. The workshop is designed to be broadly informative for university faculty, students, staff, and administrators. APRIL
Navigating Classroom-Based Research
- When: Monday, April 21, 2:00 – 3:00 pm

- Description: This training explains what types of student projects require IRB approval and reviews IRB guidelines for classroom-based research. The workshop will also cover instructor responsibilities for classroom projects involving human subjects and best practices for course instructors researching their students.

Ethics of Research with Human Subjects
- When: Wednesday, May 7, 10:00 – 11:30 am

- Description: The HSPP, in collaboration with the Responsible Conduct of Research Program (RCR), have teamed together for a presentation covering the ethics and history of research with human subjects, the purpose of IRB review, and the IRB approval process. This workshop aims to equip researchers with the knowledge and tools needed to conduct research that upholds the rights, safety, and welfare of human participants.
Virtual Office Hours
HSPP representatives will be available every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 10-11 am to assist with IRB-related and eIRB questions. Join via Zoom: https://arizona.zoom.us/j/82630871478. Registration is not required to attend.
In-Person Office Hours
The HSPP hosts in-person office hours on the 1st Wednesday of every month from 2:30 – 3:30 pm in Room #3429A at the Clinical & Translational Sciences Research Center (CATS) located at 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Bring any IRB-related questions, comments, or concerns. Registration is not required to attend.

COM-P Clinical Research Training Series
The Regulatory Compliance Team at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (COM-P) offers a series of informative and interactive training focused on advancing knowledge and skills in clinical research.
