UArizona may submit two nominations.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research Programs is accepting applications for the Summer Stipends program. The purpose of this program is to stimulate new research and publication in the humanities. Summer Stipends support continuous, full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. NEH funds may support recipients’ compensation, travel, and other costs related to the proposed scholarly research.

NEH Webinars

On May 18, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. EST, NEH staff will host a webinar describing the application and nomination processes and offering some tips writing the application. Administrators and prospective applicants will find helpful information and are encouraged to attend. Eligibility

Within the parameters listed below, individual researchers, teachers, and scholars eligible whether they have an institutional affiliation or not. Applicants holding tenured or tenure-track positions at institutions of higher education must be nominated by their institutions (unless they are exempt from this requirement) and must be selected through this limited submissions selection process.

U.S. citizens, whether they reside inside or outside the United States, are eligible. Foreign nationals who have lived in the United States or its jurisdictions for at least the three years prior to the application deadline are also eligible. Foreign nationals who take up permanent residence outside the United States any time between the application deadline and the end of the period of performance will forfeit their eligibility. Leaving the U.S. on a temporary basis is permitted.

While you do not need to have an advanced degree, if you are currently enrolled in a degree granting program then you are ineligible. If you have satisfied all the requirements for a degree and are awaiting its conferral, you are eligible, but you must include a letter from the dean of the conferring school or their department chair attesting to your status as of the application deadline.

If you are tenured or on a tenure track and teach full time at an institution of higher education that is not exempt from nomination, your institution must nominate you to apply for a Summer Stipend.

You may apply without a nomination if you are:

  • an independent scholar not affiliated with an institution of higher education
  • a U.S. citizen teaching at a foreign institution
  • non-tenure-track faculty at an institution of higher education
  • a staff member, but not faculty, at an institution of higher education (you may not teach during the academic year preceding the award)
  • community college faculty
  • emeritus faculty
  • a faculty member at an institution of higher education that is one of these federally recognized minority-serving institutions:
    • Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs)
    • Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions (ANNHs)
    • Native American-Serving Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTIs)
    • Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs)

RFA-OD-22-011: Emergency Award: Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics Tribal Data Repository (RADx TDR) (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

This emergency cooperative agreement FOA provides an expedited funding mechanism as part of the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx®) initiative to accelerate innovation in the development, commercialization, and implementation of technologies for COVID-19 testing. This FOA seeks to fund a single RADx Tribal Data Repository (RADx TDR). The RADx TDR is intended to be an independent research data repository governed under the principles and practices of tribal sovereignty. The RADx TDR will provide responsible data sharing and access to researchers and their collaborators who are generating or interested in working with RADx American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) research data.

The PIT University Network Challenge seeks to encourage new ideas, foster collaborations, and incentivize resource- and information-sharing among network members. PIT-UN launched the challenge in 2019. In 2021—PIT-UN’s third year—37 proposals from 28 institutions were awarded a total of $4,161,270 in grant funds.

Limited submissions language from the solicitation
There is a limit to the number of proposals an institution can submit: 

  • New 2022 PIT-UN Network members can submit a total of three proposals for new projects. Only one proposal can fall within Tranche 2: up to $180,000 ($90,001-$180,000) for direct and indirect costs. 
  • Current PIT-UN Network members can submit three proposals for new projects.
  • Current PIT-UN Network members can also submit any number of proposals for additional funding to continue and/or scale a previously funded project that meets the eligibility requirements noted below.* Any number of these projects can fall within Tranche 2: up to $180,000 ($90,001-$180,000) for direct and indirect costs.

The DOE SC program in High Energy Physics (HEP) hereby announces its interest in new applications for support of Artificial Intelligence Research for High Energy Physics. This FOA refers to research into and development of computational systems that take action to achieve a goal as Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and may include Machine Learning (ML) techniques as appropriate. This Announcement invites applications for AI research in three topic areas: AI research for HEP, HEP for AI research, and development of an HEP AI Ecosystem. The HEP program explicitly encourages applications from non-traditional HEP institutions and researchers that may broaden the participation in HEP research and the AI sub-field.

2022 Transforming Pediatrics for Early Childhood (TPEC)

2022 Sloan Foundation: Call for Letters of Inquiry: Creating Equitable Pathways to STEM Graduate Education

UArizona may submit one proposal.

The Foundation’s Creating Equitable Pathways to STEM Graduate Education grants will support institutional pathways from MSIs to master’s and doctoral degree programs in astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, data science, Earth sciences, economics, engineering, marine science, mathematics, physics, and statistics. The intent is to facilitate the creation and strengthening of diverse, inclusive, and equitable pathways to and through STEM graduate education with the recognition that student pathways are too often disrupted by systemic racism, discrimination, and bias through prevailing institutional and departmental policy and practice.
