2022 Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) Reach Grant

UACC may submit one application. Selection of the applicant is managed by the UACC.

The purpose of the Reach Grant is to advance ALSF’s mission to find cures and better treatments for childhood cancers by providing support to move hypothesis-driven research into the clinic. Significant barriers exist that impede the translation of innovative and important ideas to the clinic. The Reach Grant seeks to remove one of these barriers by providing support for important preclinical projects that are necessary to move a study from the pre-clinical arena into a clinical trial. Thus, the goal of this award is to support translational studies that will result in a phase 1 and/or 2 clinical trial, two to three years from the project start date.

2022 DRL Internet Freedom Annual Program Statement

No applicants // Limit: 2 // Tickets Available: 2

UArizona may submit two SOIs.

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) from organizations interested in submitting Statements of Interest (SOI) for programs that support the policy objective to support Internet Freedom.  In support of the U.S. International Strategy for Cyberspace, DRL’s goal is to protect the open, interoperable, secure, and reliable Internet by promoting fundamental freedoms, human rights, and the free flow of information online through integrated support to civil society for technology, digital safety, policy and advocacy, and applied research programs.  DRL invites organizations interested in potential funding to submit SOI applications outlining program concepts that reflect this goal.

2022 V Foundation V Clinical Scholar Program

UA may nominate one UACC member. Selection of the UArizona candidate is managed by the UACC.

The V Clinical Scholar Award supports the careers of clinicians who will become leaders in developing programs of clinical trials that are sequential and based on hypothesis–driven research. V Clinical Scholars will be expected to lead a program of hypothesis-driven clinical trials, initiating, and completing multiple projects overseen by clinical and laboratory mentors who have a track record for conducting hypothesis-driven research with a strong translational component, often in collaboration with investigators from other disciplines.

The total amount of the grant is $200,000, paid in two annual installments of $100,000. Only direct costs of the research are supported by this award.

HRSA-22-091: 2022 Early Childhood Developmental Health Systems: Evidence to Impact

UArizona may submit one application.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is accepting applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2022 Early Childhood Developmental Health Systems (ECDHS): Evidence to Impact program. The purpose of this program is to advance statewide systems of comprehensive early childhood developmental promotion, screenings, and interventions that improve outcomes and reduce disparities in early developmental health and family well-being for communities with high levels of childhood poverty. These systems will be referred to as early childhood development (ECD) systems throughout this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO).

One award will be made, in the form of a cooperative agreement, to establish an Early Childhood Evidence to Impact Center, hereby referred to as the Center. The goals of the Center are to: 1) increase the implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed, equity-focused strategies among states by providing national technical assistance (TA) and supporting the implementation and evaluation of ECD systems-building efforts; and 2) strengthen the evidence base in support of ECD systems-building.

DE-FOA-0002676: 2022 Chemical and Materials Sciences to Advance Clean Energy Technologies and Low-Carbon Manufacturing

Ticket #1: F. Goeltl

UArizona may submit up to 2 pre-applications or applications for multi-PI efforts and up to 3 pre-applications or applications for single-PI efforts, for a combined total of no more than 3 pre-applications or applications.

The DOE SC program in Basic Energy Sciences (BES) announces its interest in receiving new applications from single principal investigators (PIs) and from small teams to advance basic and fundamental chemical and materials sciences that underpin clean energy technologies and low-carbon manufacturing. The goal is creation of foundational knowledge to support the development of approaches that will minimize climate impacts of energy technologies and manufacturing. For this FOA, clean energy technologies include approaches to capture, produce, convert, store, and use energy that reduce or eliminate unwanted emissions such as greenhouse gases (e.g., carbon dioxide, methane, etc.). These technologies also include approaches such as direct air capture (DAC) and carbon storage/sequestration to decrease emissions that have been released into the environment from energy production and use. Low-carbon manufacturing refers to manufacturing processes that minimize carbon emissions and energy consumption. Investments from this FOA are anticipated to include awards that build foundational knowledge underpinning the Energy Earthshots Initiative.
