University of Arizona Tops List for Regents Grants

In FY2024, the University of Arizona secured $3,746,008 in Regents Grants, surpassing Arizona State University ($3,246,558) and Northern Arizona University ($1,099,404).
Regents Research Grants
- U of A is leading Reprocessing Copper Mine Tailings: Critical Mineral Recovery (Principal Investigator Isabel Barton, associate professor, Mining & Geological Engineering) and receiving $2,810,974 of the $3,632,359 project budget. Watch this 1.5 minute video on this project.
- The U of A is also collaborating with ASU on Evaluating Contamination Fate and Transport in Biosolids, securing $590,136 of the $2,157,277 project budget.
Regents Community Grants
- U of A is leading The Effect of Environmental Risk on Higher Education Bonds (Principal Investigator Tiemen Woutersen, Eller Professor of Management), receiving the entire project budget of $194,898.
- The U of A is also collaborating with ASU on the Retention and Recruiting of Arizona Detention Officers, securing $150,000 of the $300,000 budget.
Between FY2022 and FY2024, U of A’s cumulative funding totaled $14,563,899, exceeding ASU’s $10,119,485 and NAU’s $6,962,188, underscoring its leadership in research funding.
