The Bart J. Bok Fellowship for Advanced Study in Astronomy and Astrophysics was created in honor of Bart J. Bok, director of Steward Observatory from 1966 through 1970. This three-year Fellowship provides an opportunity for an exceptionally talented recent PhD recipient to pursue a program of research in any area of theoretical or observational astronomy or astrophysics. The full facilities of the Observatory are available to the Fellow, who is encouraged to pursue both independent research and collaborative work with Observatory staff members.

Undergraduate and Graduate students at any college or university in Arizona are eligible to submit a research paper for this award. Submissions should focus on water issues that affect Central and Southern Arizona and/or the Colorado River.

The University Distinguished Professors award honors faculty who have made sustained contributions of consistent educational excellence and have demonstrated outstanding commitment to undergraduate education. The Call for Nominations is issued annually in mid-September.

The Graduate College UROC administers a number of undergraduate research programs, including NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs). In addition, the program supports opportunities for research training and graduate school preparation through faculty mentorships, professional development and graduate admissions workshops, GRE workshops, social opportunities, and presentation opportunities.

Offered through the Social and Behavioral Sciences Research Institute, these $2,000-maximum grants are intended to help prospective PIs develop opportunities that have a clear return on SBS's investment.

The GPSC supports professional development initiatives of graduate and professional students through Professional Opportunity Development Funding. Such initiatives and events include, but are not necessarily limited to academic seminars, conferences, meetings with industry representatives, etc.

Applications must be submitted by at least three graduate/professional students.
